Stage Director, Teacher and Chef of the Ensemble Opera Diversa

Born in Český Krumlov (1976) he went on to study as a nurse. He then studied opera singing (tenor) with Inge Švandová-Koutecká at the Conservatoire in České Budějovice (1996-2002). During his studies he started singing in the South Bohemian Opera as choral singer. Between 2003 and 2008 he studied opera direction with Alena Vaňáková at the JAMU (Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, Brno). From 2012 he has taught opera direction at the JAMU and at the Brno Conservatoire.
From 2006 he has collaborated with the Ensemble Opera Diversa, becoming their head of opera, directing all of the major productions until his appointment as Head of Opera at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice in 2016: Pickelhering 1607 (2008), The Strange Suicide of Two Lovers in Shinagawa (2009), The Pumpkin Demon in a Vegetarian Restaurant (2010), Everyman (2013), Ponava (Lost Rivers) (2013), Leviatan (2014), Chameleon (2015).
He has also directed a number of professional opera and theatre productions in Brno (National Theatre, Buranteatr, Divadlo na Orlí), in České Budějovice (South Bohemian Theatre), in Ostrava (Moravian-Silesian National Theatre), in Slovakia and in Poland (Opera Nova Bydgószcz). He has also translated several opera libretti.
